Comprehensive Eye Exams eye exams include routine vision tests, refraction, depth perception, peripheral vision, retinal photography, checking for cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration, and taking a thorough medical history including any areas of concern, discomfort or vision issues. We also conduct visual field testing and evaluations to identify any problems occurring behind the eyes indicating a possible brain aneurysm, tumor or any interruption in the visual pathway. Using state-of--the-art equipment and protocols, our eye exams are detailed and thorough where many offices provide 10-15 minute eye exams, our patients should anticipate 30-45 minutes spent with the eye doctor himself. That's how important our patients' eye care is to us.
Pediatric eye exams - While many schools -- and nearly all pediatricians -- provide basic vision screenings, these abbreviated eye exams tend to simply check for visual acuity (does the student need eyeglasses to see at a distance), but they miss a large percentage of visually significant problems. Eye exams for children should focus on much more than whether the child is nearsighted and needs eyeglasses. It is critical -- especially at early ages -- to check eye coordination and how well the two eyes are working together, without one doing more of the work. Eye exams for children should carefully screen for eye muscle problems, astigmatism, and farsightedness as well as near-sightedness. Because children don't know what's "normal" and what isn't, children's eye exams should include careful questioning -- does the child have headaches, do the eyes get tired, do they find themselves squinting, do they experience eye strain at the computer, etc. Eye exams for children should be done by a professional eye doctor (optometrist) and should be as thorough as possible. Pediatric eye health is one of Dr. Morton's areas of special interest, and many families in Littleton, Englewood, Centennial, Greenwood Village, Cherry Hills, Lone Tree and the south suburban area trust their children's vision care to Dr. Morton.
Geriatric eye exams - Seniors typically have different eye health issues than children or younger adults and often need a doctor who will take the time to patiently explain to them what to expect during each part of their eye exams, and then patiently review any problems or treatments that are being recommended. Our optometrist, optician and staff are especially good with seniors -- and we are also a Medicare-participating provider,
